"Le moment décisif" is a French term for the decisive moment, coined by photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson. It describes the ultimate split-second moment when all the visual and dramatic elements come together; It is a moment when the photographer captures the exact organization of shapes and a meaningful event with the right composition and timing. The photographer must have intuition, patience and a keen sense of observation to recognize and capture this moment, often on the street without any staging.
